State Report

Hello Parents,
If you click on the 'Science and Social Studies' link, you will see that I have posted the 5th grade state report pdf. Please take a second to download and save. The state report will be due during learning period 9. This allows students time to complete the project. My best advice is to have your child complete a few pages a week until the due date, as there are quite a few items to research. At the end of learning period 5, the students completed a geography project. This was a way to get students interested about their particular state, and hopefully is a great start off point to their actual state report. Please let me know if there are any questions. I will make sure to send the report via email as well. Thank you and have a great day.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Alvarado

Science Fair Research Report

Santa Rosa Academy
Science Fair

Research Report

The purpose of the research report is for students to investigate their topic in depth prior to the experiment. This will form a good basis for students to develop their hypothesis. The research report will be a large part of the science project final grade. Once the topic is selected it is time to do the following.

1.   Look through resources:
a.   Reliable websites
b.   Books
c.   Magazines

2.   Know what to research:
a.   History of the topic
b.   Prior scientific findings or reports

3.   Create a well-organized, multi-paragraph report. This report will be submitted with the final project.

EXAMPLE
Topic: The effects of music on plant growth
What to research: What is known about plant growth, prior findings on how music is related to plant growth.
