Hello Parents,
On Friday, December 16th, we would like to
have a holiday party for the students and thought it would be a fun way
to send them off to winter break. A few parents in the class have
kindly offered to help. They did such an outstanding job with our
Halloween party and know that our winter party will be a success! We are
asking for a $5 donation. The donation will provide fun holiday treats
for the whole class. I will be collecting money until Wednesday,
December 16th. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact
me! I am also here to help out in any way that I can. Hope you have a
wonderful rest of the week! Take care.

Pizza Basket - GALA
Hello Parents,
Happy Monday! Our annual GALA is
approaching! The GALA is a wonderful fundraising event for the school
that has been hugely successful since its conception. Each class is in
charge of putting together a themed basked that will go up for auction.
The only way to make it a success is through the generous contributions
of our families! This year, our theme is a "Pizza Basket." If you would
like to contribute, I would greatly appreciate it! You can click on the
link below and choose an item to donate. All donations can be sent to
school with your child. If you have any questions, please feel free to
contact me. Thank you again parents and I hope you all have a great
night!http://www.signupgenius.com/

Hello Parents,
I hope you are enjoying your weekend. Here is a list of upcoming events:Thursday, September 17, 2015
Math Tests
Hello Parents,
This year the students have been working
hard on their math curriculum. There are a lot of big concepts that the
students will learn throughout the year. As an opportunity to review
missed concepts, students who receive a C- or lower on a test
will be asked to review and correct. The test correction will be done at
home and the students will be able to use their math notes as a
resource. This has a double purpose. It is meant to have the students
reinforce those concepts, as well as help increase points. Once the test
is resubmitted by the scheduled deadline, the student has the
opportunity to move their score up to a C- (maximum). I encourage
students who are having a difficult time understanding concepts to use
the Think Central video resources, as well as attend tutoring. Thank you
parents and feel free to email me if you have any questions. Have a
wonderful day.

Novel Studies
Hello Parents,
This year we will begin the semester reading the Sign of the Beaver (August 17). You can find the list of novels that we will be reading throughout the year on our supplies list. Unfortunately, we do not have classroom sets that can cover all of the fifth grade classes. We are asking that you acquire the novels through libraries, book stores like Barnes and Nobles, or even Amazon. I personally find that Amazon.com has very cheap and reasonable prices. They also have quick delivery. I will send reminder emails prior to beginning a new novel. Please email me if you have a difficult time. I will do whatever I can to help. Thank you parents and have a wonderful day!

Also,
we are still in need of prize donations if you are able. All items can
be brought to the classroom up to this Friday. Thank you!
3. Unfortunately, tutoring is cancelled this week due to the high level of after school meetings. I apologize if this causes any inconvenience.
4.
I had a few questions as to whether or not the state report needs a
bibliography. Please have you child include one. I went over the
importance of citing references in reports with the students. All books and websites should be cited.
Thank you parents and I hope all of you have a wonderful rest of the week!
